Your Destination
The capital of Spain’s Andalusia region, Seville has mastered the delicate balance of preserving its magnificent past and offering the conveniences of a modern commercial hub. It’s the birthplace of Baroque painter Velazquez, celebrated sculptor La Roldana, and the city where Ferdinand and Isabella ruled Spain in the late 15th century – not to mention home of the ingenious barber of Seville and tempestuous Carmen. For a city of about 700,000, Seville offers a rich array of cultural activities that include flamenco to classical, pop, and jazz concerts.

HOUSING
Homestays: Most students choose to live with a Spanish-speaking family. Homestays generally are limited to one student per household; however, we can usually accommodate requests to be placed with another student - subject to approval from the study abroad office. Each student will have his/her own bedroom, and weekly cleaning, laundry and Internet are provided. Students usually walk or ride rented bikes but may also be able to take public transportation when available; average commute to classes is 20-30 minutes.
Residence Halls: Students have individual bedrooms with bathroom, kitchen, Internet, and weekly cleaning and linen service. Halls have common spaces, and students can opt to pay for meal plans, laundry, gym and pool services and more. Students should expect a 20-40-minute commute, riding a rented bike or city bus.
-
MEALS
Homestay: Three meals per day are provided by the host.
Residence Halls: Meals are not included. Students can opt into a meal plan.

Academics
Click to OpenAcademics
This program is designed to help students expand their business vocabulary, immerse themselves linguistically and professionally in a new culture, and gain practical experience on the job. Upon completing a two week Spanish language concentrated session to build vocabulary and conversational skills, program participants begin an internship of 100-120 hours of on-site work combined with one-day per week oral proficiency language class . While the internship is considered part-time by academic standards, students will feel like a full-time intern during the second half of the program, with hands-on internship work. The internship is complemented by a research project, and weekly seminars on topics such as public speaking and leadership.
Intern in a Spanish company: help improve logistics and customer relations, build finance reports in Excel, analyze competitors, develop marketing plans, audit local Andalusian companies and more.
The internship selection process takes into account the student’s language ability, job skills, background and professional attitude. Student’s internship placements will be confirmed in advance of travelling. Because Spanish firms make final selections, internships in a particular company are not guaranteed. Students have interned for organizations like Biomedal, Simetrycal, Wellness Telecom, Onyx, Glumping Hub, EPES 061, CyO Arquitectos and Telefónica – Andalucia Open Future, as well as smaller firms and companies.
CIEE Seville site: our home is a beautifully renovated palace, originally built in 1725, close to the Royal Alcazar palace, and a 10-minute walk from the Universidad de Seville. CIEE Seville includes classrooms, a computer room, student services and the Language Resource Center.
Prior to departure for Seville, all program participants take a CIEE Seville online placement exam (OLPT). Results provide onsite language instructors with additional information about student’s linguistic skills and background.
Students agree to speak only Spanish to encourage language and cultural acquisition.
