Expanding Our Most Flexible and Accessible Program Models in More Locations
CIEE is expanding four of our most in-demand programs: Business + Culture, Open Campus Block, Quarter In, and College First Year Abroad. This expansion allows students and our partners to access some of our most flexible and relevant program models in more locations. By breaking down curriculum barriers, we’re ensuring every student – regardless of academic major or background – can study abroad anywhere in the world and stay on track to meet their academic goals.
With this expansion, we are also adding four new cities to the CIEE network. Beginning in Spring 2027, students will be able to study in Brussels, Belgium and Osaka, Japan. Beginning in Fall 2027, students will be able to study in Vienna, Austria, and Bangkok, Thailand.

New CIEE Centers
We are opening four new CIEE Centers in 2027: Vienna, Austria; Brussels, Belgium; Osaka, Japan; and Bangkok, Thailand. The addition of these four cities expands CIEE’s global reach to 49 dynamic cities. These new CIEE Centers across Europe and Asia position CIEE in locations that allow us to meet the evolving and diverse interests and needs of our students and partners.
CIEE Vienna
Students step into the heart of Central Europe when they study abroad in Vienna, a city that seamlessly blends history with contemporary culture. Ranked among the world’s most liveable cities, Vienna is known for its high quality of life, safety, legendary music, and art.
The birthplace of classical music, Vienna invites students to walk in the footsteps of legendary composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Schubert. Students explore world-class museums, stroll open-air markets, and wander streets lined with Baroque architecture. Academic opportunities span diplomacy, music, art, and the social sciences, as well STEM fields - appealing to a breadth of student interests. Students may complete a full- or part-time internship, gaining real-world experience and valuable professional skills. CIEE Brussels
Study in a European city where historic charm meets modern influence in Brussels, Belgium’s capital and global center for politics, culture and innovation. Home to the European Union, Brussels offers unparalleled opportunities to engage with decision-makers and intern at leading global organizations.
Brussels is a bilingual city, with more than 1,000 languages spoken, making it an ideal location for students interested in language learning and intercultural exchange. Outside of the classroom, students can visit iconic landmarks like the Atomium, explore nearby medieval towns, or easily travel to other European capitals, just a short train ride away. Brussels’ global energy and multilingual culture deliver an experience that is both academically rewarding and globally inspiring.
CIEE Osaka
Japan has become one of the most sought-after study abroad destinations in the world. Osaka, Japan’s third largest city, offers students an authentic taste of life in Japan, that blends rich cultural traditions with a modern, energetic urban lifestyle.
Known for its lively street culture, welcoming locals, and renowned food scene, Osaka is nicknamed the “Kitchen of Japan.” A major trade and economic hub, the city is well suited for students interested in manufacturing, robotics, life sciences, and technology. Students may also complete a full- or part-time internship, gaining real-world work experience and professional skills.
Japan’s high-speed rail makes travel throughout Japan fast, safe, and convenient. Osaka offers exploration of Japan’s innovation and cutting-edge technology alongside its rich history, food, and cultural traditions.
CIEE Bangkok
Known for its ornate temples, bustling street markets, and soaring skyscrapers, Bangkok provides a lively backdrop for academic and cultural exploration.
A major hub for manufacturing, finance, hospitality and tourism, Bangkok is perfect for students across a wide range of academic majors. Students can enhance their study abroad experience with a full- or part-time internship related to their career goals. A low-cost of living, diverse and affordable food, and reliable public transportation supports a strong quality of life. Nearby destinations such as Ayutthaya Historical Park and iconic floating markets allow students to explore Thailand’s rich history and cultural traditions. Bangkok’s central location also makes it an ideal base for regional travel throughout Southeast Asia.
Business + Culture Expansion
Beginning in 2027, CIEE will launch Business + Culture in 22 new locations, doubling our current portfolio. Students can immerse themselves in the business culture and local economies of 38 innovative global cities.
CIEE's Business + Culture program model is an excellent choice for business majors seeking to combine diverse business coursework with unique co-curriculars and internships that expand their cultural awareness and international business acumen. Coursework covers core business topics with a focus on local social, political, and cultural contexts, taught by faculty at leading business schools, many of which are AACSB or EQUIS accredited.
To enhance academic learning, students may supplement their Business + Culture program with an optional internship placement. Global internships prepare students with real-world international work experience at companies, nonprofits, and startups around the world, helping them standout in today’s competitive workforce. As the leading international internship provider, CIEE offers 6,500+ diverse internship placements across 49 cities worldwide. Students on Business + Culture gain technical business knowledge, intercultural insights, and practical skills to succeed at home or abroad.

Open Campus Block Expansion
Our most innovative and flexible program, Open Campus Block, is now offered in 35 locations worldwide. The Open Campus Block program model allows students to study for one, two, or three consecutive six-week blocks at up to three CIEE Centers globally, giving them the freedom to design every detail of their study abroad journey. Students choose from a broad range of multi-disciplinary courses, along with online courses taught through CIEE’s global academic partner, Arizona State University (ASU) – enabling a single- or multi-location experience that aligns with their academic and personal goals. Students can easily transition to courses in multiple locations because Open Campus courses, regardless of location, are all delivered in U.S. style instruction and on the same calendar.
Students can further personalize their experience through for-credit internships, service learning, and academic project opportunities. Open Campus Block offers a flexible, fully customizable study abroad experience that keeps students on track academically while cultivating individual interests and comparative skill building.

Quarter In Expansion
Designed specifically for students following the quarter system calendar, Quarter In provides a cost-accessible and flexible study abroad experience. Students can earn a full quarter’s worth of credit – no credit conversion issues, mismatched schedules, or compromises. Quarter In is now available in 35 global destinations.
CIEE’s Quarter In offers general studies coursework to ensure on-time graduation by satisfying major, minor, and elective course requirements. With minimal prerequisites and no language requirements, Quarter In makes transformative study abroad more accessible than ever for students on quarter schedules. Students can further customize Quarter In to fulfill their academic and professional goals with for-credit internships, academic projects, and service-learning opportunities.

College First Year Abroad
High school graduates can begin their college careers in one of 13 of the world’s most dynamic cities through College First Year Abroad, now expanded to include Florence, Italy and Seville, Spain. College First Year Abroad offers hundreds of popular, easily transferable first-year courses alongside career-enriching service learning, internships, and research opportunities, allowing students to enjoy a culturally enriching experience while staying on track academically. Students receive their academic transcript from Tulane University, our school of record. Through an immersive and supportive environment both inside and outside the classroom, students develop a global mind-set they carry with them into their college experience and beyond – all at a cost thousands of dollars below the average U.S. in-state tuition.
