Study Tours & Cultural Excursions
Every CIEE semester program has frequent cultural excursions and a multi-day study tour uniquely designed to complement the program’s academics and enhance students’ cultural immersion. In Brussels, past study tours and excursions have included:
- Exploring coastal Normandy or Alsace bordering Germany
- Day trips to Bruges, Liege, Tournai, or Luxemborg
- Guided tours of Brussels Museum of Fine Arts and a celebrated chocolate factory
- Attendance at Brussels’ famous Ommegang celebration
WHERE STUDENTS STUDY

Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB)
ULB hosts 24,200 students, 32% of whom come from abroad, and offers three-year undergraduate degrees, organized by faculty. The CIEE program is associated with the Faculty of Letters, Translation and Communication, the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, and the Solvay Brussels School for Management and Economics.
This international English-language college hosts about 300 students, and is located southeast of central Brussels, next to its partner, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Students with appropriate French or Dutch skills can also take courses at VUB or ULB. Vesalius College offers three-year undergraduate degrees in three areas: business, communications, and international affairs.
INTERNSHIPS & VOLUNTEERING
Depending on their program of study and availability, students may be able to participate in an internship or volunteer. In Brussels, students can earn credit and on-the-job experience in communications, business, or international affairs. Internships are formalized in Brussels, following interviews and final word from sponsors. Proficiency in a second language is not required.
