Overview

Your CIEE Summer Intern + Study Abroad program in Brussels offers a unique opportunity to gain international work experience while studying in one of Europe's most globally connected capitals. This program includes three components: A part-time internship with an international organization (15-20 hours per week), an internship seminar, and a 3‑credit academic course taught online through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Outside of your internship and coursework, co-curricular and extracurricular activities provide opportunities to explore Brussels’ rich culture and international character, from admiring the architecture of the Grand Place and visiting the iconic Atomium to sampling Belgian cuisine and discovering the city's vibrant arts scene. By combining professional development, academic learning, and cultural exploration, the program provides a well-rounded international experience that supports both personal and career growth.

at a human services organization or international NGO, supporting social impact initiatives and community‑focused projects

  • Explore Antwerp, where a grand medieval center anchored by the Grote Markt meets a world‑renowned fashion scene and historic diamond district

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
