Great job! You've taken an important first step in becoming one of 100 CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Student Fellowship recipients. Now it's time to plan the adventure that's perfect for you.
To apply:
- Complete your application for a qualifying spring 2026 CIEE Study Abroad program in Latin America
- Complete the Scholarships & Grants and the CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Student Scholarship sections of the CIEE application
The Details
- Have a submitted application for any qualifying program by September 15, 2025
- Be nominated by your school, who will review applicants and select final nominations; if selected to be a Latin America Student Fellow, you'll be notified by CIEE
- Be an undergraduate sophomore or junior from an accredited institution at the time of participation
- Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident
- Preference for Pell-eligible applicants (not required)
- Have public social media accounts
As part of your application, you will be required to create a captivating video that showcases your passion for Latin America and your potential as a student Fellow. This video should be submitted as a link in your MyCIEE application.
We want to see your unique perspective and creative flair! Tell us why you're the ideal candidate for the CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Student Fellowship.
In your video, please address the following:
- Your Connection to Latin America: Why are you drawn to Latin American culture and what inspires you about the region?
- Study Abroad Goals: What do you hope to achieve by studying abroad in Latin America? How will this experience shape your future?
- Student Fellow Potential: How would you creatively share your study abroad experience with others? What unique perspective or skills can you bring as a student fellow?
Be bold, be creative, and let your personality shine! We're looking for videos that are engaging, informative, and visually appealing.
Video Requirements:
- Maximum length of 3-4 minutes
- High-quality video and audio
- Subtitles or closed captions are strongly encouraged

As a Latin America Fellow, you will be expected to spend 2-4 hours per week creating engaging social media content on your channels as well as CIEE's owned social media accounts (TikToks, Instagram Reels/Posts/Stories, etc.).
