Merit Scholarships

CIEE offers merit scholarships to our strongest studentsTo recognize high academic achievement, CIEE offers a limited number of merit scholarships to our strongest students. These awards are based on students’ academic records, and on the submission of a personal essay describing to us how their CIEE program will impact their college experience and future career plans. Merit scholarships are available for CIEE summer and semester programs.

MCDERMOTT HEALTH SCIENCES, NURSING, AND PUBLIC HEALTH MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

-$2,500 toward semester program costs, or $750 toward summer program costs
-Qualifying programs: CIEE’s Community and Public Health summer, semester or year-long programs.

PING SCHOLARSHIP FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

-$2,500 toward semester program costs, or $750 toward summer program costs
-Qualifying programs: all summer, semester or year-long CIEE programs

RITZMANN TROPICAL AND MARINE ECOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

-$2,500 toward semester program costs, or $750 toward summer program costs
-Qualifying programs: CIEE’s Sustainability and the Environment, or Tropical Ecology and Conservation summer, semester or year-long programs. 

STOHL INTERNATIONAL UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP

-$2,500 toward semester program costs, or $750 toward summer program costs
-Qualifying programs: CIEE summer, semester, or year-long programs that offer research opportunities. Please check the home page of your program of interest to see what awards are offered for that program.

WOLLITZER MERIT SCHOLARSHIP IN AREA OR COMPARATIVE STUDIES

-$2,500 toward semester program costs, or $750 toward summer program costs
-Qualifying programs: CIEE summer, semester, or year-long programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Please check the home page of your program of interest to see what awards are offered for that program.

FREDERICK DOUGLASS GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP

-To increase access to study abroad by more students at minority serving institutions, CIEE will cover 100 percent of program fees and travel costs for 10 students from 10 different MSIs each year (2017-2019) to participate in a four-week summer study abroad program. To become a Frederick Douglass Global Fellow, students must be nominated and receive letters of recommendation from the president of their institutions. Learn more and apply now.
