Barcelona’s location in the Mediterranean, its transport infrastructures, as well as its trading, entrepreneurial, and open economy, have made the city an unbeatable meeting point for international businesses. Add in Barcelona’s culture, rich in the arts, architecture, and history, and you have a compelling backdrop for a challenging internship experience.

Daily LifeClick to Open
Homestay: Students can choose to live in Spanish homestays, either alone or with another CIEE student (in individual rooms). Laundry service will be provided once a week.
Shared Apartments: Students can live in a shared apartment (typically in double rooms). Students share laundry facilities and kitchens.
Homestay: Breakfast and dinner will be provided at home.
Shared Apartments: Meals are not included.
Where You'll Study
Near Barcelona’s main square, Plaza Catalunya.
A maximum of 30 minutes by public transportation, from homestays and shared apartments, to CIEE Barcelona.
Well connected with students’ housing and the city center by public transportation.

What you need to knowThe program details
As a global intern in Barcelona, you’ll work in a non-paying position within a wide range of opportunities across a diverse set of innovative industries. Co-curricular excursions and cultural activities in and around Barcelona complement your coursework and immerse you in the history and culture of the city.
This eight-week program includes a full-time internship and an integrated academic seminar.

Students need to have a GPA of at least 2.5. Rising sophomore standing and above required at time of participation. Additional visa restrictions may apply and CIEE will advise students as part of the early application process.
Total credit: 6 U.S. semester/9 quarter credits
Internship: 6 U.S. semester/9 quarter credits; 30 integrated academic seminar hours, 200-240 internship placement hours
Language of Instruction
Students participate in an academic seminar taught in an online learning environment alongside the eight-week, full-time internship and weekly co-curricular workshops, site visits, and lectures. Participation in the integrated academic seminar and co-curriculars is mandatory for all participants.
