Click to OpenCIEE Virtual Global Internships allow you to experience the changing world of work without leaving your home! Drawing from our robust network of companies and host organizations in more than 15 cities around the world, we will match you with an 8-week, project-based internship based on your academic profile and career goals. Participants can expect to learn to navigate synchronous and asynchronous collaboration across time zones while gaining critical on-the-job skills like self-confidence, independence, and project management.
This program contains 225 internship hours in total. That breaks down to 28-30 hours/week. This is a great option for students who wish to have an intensive professional development experience which is nearly full-time in nature.
This program is designed in a non-credit format. However, speak to your university and we can work with you and your advisor to determine how we can help you achieve credit for participating in the program.

The Virtual Global Internship program pairs you with a non-paying internship within a wide range of opportunities across a diverse set of industries. While the program is non-credit bearing, we offer ongoing coaching and support throughout the internship, as well as workshops for all students and a skills assessment. Themes include resume writing, interview prep, best practices for remote internships, building an entrepreneurial mindset, and maintaining a global network.
GPA
Students need to have a GPA of at least 2.5 to participate in the program.
Language Prerequisites
There are no specific language requirements for this program.
Additional Requirements
Students must be currently enrolled in an Associate, Bachelor, or Master program and have completed a minimum of their first academic year of studies before the program. Recent graduates are also eligible to participate within 24 months of graduation. Participants are required to have access to a laptop/computer with audio capabilities. Participants are required to have reliable access to internet/WiFi.
Individual courses may have additional prerequisites; for CIEE courses, these are listed in the syllabi below. Students are responsible for having their own course approval conversations with their advisors.
Program Requirements
Participants are required to be active interns in the program while completing the internship. While workshops and coaching sessions are not mandatory, we strongly encourage all participants to attend.

Participation in this program is not-for-credit.

Educational Costs = $1,450 Total Fees = $1,450Financial AidCIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $8 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, institutional and MSI grants, and Gilman Go Global Grants. This breakdown has been prepared from the program budget for the purpose of calculating eligibility for financial aid. During the course of program operations, actual figures may vary. It should not, therefore, be used as a basis for calculation of refunds. CIEE reserves the right to adjust fees at any time. Workshops
Virtual workshops compliment the internship experience by offerring different perspectives on professional development and the changing world of work. Stephen Murray
Best Practices for Remote Internships
Stephen has served in senior product, P&L, and digital roles for some of the largest financial services firms in the US, Europe, and Asia including positions running consumer, investment, and insurance businesses at Wells Fargo, Lloyds Banking Group, and HSBC. He also has entrepreneurial experience with multiple startups stretching back to San Francisco and the first Internet boom in the late 90s. Since leaving banking Stephen co-founded and is currently CEO of an early-stage venture in the children’s book industry operating completely virtually across three cities and two continents. Stephen holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in History from the University of Virginia.
Gosbert Chagula

Throughout his professional life, Gosbert has focused on supporting, building, and investing in mission-driven businesses in the energy, education, and future mobility sectors. Before he became Exeter Velocities Ecosystem Manager and workshop instructor at CIEE, he was a director at The Africa Technology Business Network (AFTBN), a global network focused on driving innovation-led growth and impact in Africa. Get ready to soak up his insider knowledge of how to develop and use an entrepreneurial mindset for the internship, university and life.
Eloisa Angeles
How to work and live sustainably and impactfully
After receiving a PhD in Philosophie from the University of Cambridge, UK, Eloisa worked in different venture capital companies before starting her own business Terrax, with the goal to enable efficiency among food suppliers, support sustainability and reduce food waste. In her workshop, Eloisa will highlight the responsibility of business leaders to ensure they are not harming people or planet whilst pursuing audacious goals.
Marina Abrosova
Organizational Culture and Leadership
Marina, originally from Siberia, studied abroad in the U.S. before pursuing her PhD in Berlin/Germany. She’s an experienced entrepreneur, researcher, and corporate consultant. When managing the academic curriculum of the Entrepreneur Lab by CIEE, Marina built and supervised the entrepreneurial journey of more than 80 aspiring startups founders from all around the world.
Matt Kuppers
Communication Skills: Storytelling
A specialist in private sector development and entrepreneurship training, Matt knows how important presentation and communication skills are to sell an idea, to pitch an application or to draw the attention of decision makers. He has been mentoring students and startups with Microsoft Ventures Accelerator, Startupbootcamp FinTech, and Oxford University, and is also a regular conference speaker. Matt developed online courses and training for the London School of Economics and the University of London and is an experienced virtual workshops facilitator.
