Studying Abroad in London as a Hispanic First-Generation Student
By: Kimberly Hurtado Lora
I am forever grateful to CIEE for the amazing opportunity to study abroad in London. I’m a Hispanic first-generation student who never thought the world would open up in such an amazing way! CIEE made the application process easy to follow as well as their requirements, they offer a wide variety of scholarships that helped cover my program cost. I was able to afford to go!
London was amazing, wonderful, and easy to navigate! The public transportation made traveling to other cities easy and super convenient. I could go to Belgium, Amsterdam, and Scotland all by train! The food in London is good when you find the little holes in the wall, Pubs were a lot of fun and had so many different kinds of vibes! Our accommodation was fun they through a haunted house and held karaoke nights and fun events to find things to do. If you’re ever in London I highly recommend going to KNOOPS best hot chocolate I’ve ever had!
If you want to go to the Hogwarts School it’s in Alnwick and accessible by train and a walk into town, it’s a beautiful place. CIEE also hosts a variety of outings, my favorite outing would have to be going overnight to Liverpool, where we got the amazing opportunity to tour Anfield Stadium! A once-a-lifetime opportunity and it was stunning, we got to even see their changing rooms and step foot onto the field. Thank you CIEE. Special thanks to Isadora and Matt from London CIEE.
