A Dreamy Weekend At Thyme
By: Lillian Frisch
Last weekend, I swapped London’s chaos for the calm of the Cotswolds, and wow, what a breath of fresh air! I stayed at Thyme, a dreamy boutique hotel in Southrop, and honestly, it was perfect. Picture honey-colored cottages, sheep roaming the fields, and a vibe so peaceful you forget the rest of the world exists.
I stayed in one of their cottages, which felt straight out of a fairytale—think wooden beams, botanical decor, and so much cozy charm. The staff were amazing and even gave me wellies so I could wander through streams and explore the property. I got to walk with sheep (yes, actual sheep!) and soak up the kind of quiet that feels impossible in London.
The food? Incredible. Thyme’s Ox Barn restaurant served up the freshest dishes with ingredients grown on-site. It’s farm-to-table dining at its finest—comforting, seasonal, and so delicious. I’m still dreaming about the braised lamb and the desserts.
The Cotswolds itself is like a postcard brought to life—rolling hills, quaint villages, and that quintessential English countryside charm. Even if you never left the hotel (honestly, I barely did), you’d have the perfect getaway. But if you’re up for exploring, there are stunning gardens, historic spots like Blenheim Palace, and scenic walks all around.
Thyme really nailed that balance of luxury and down-to-earth vibes. It’s fancy without being pretentious and just so relaxing. If you need an escape from city life—or just life in general—I couldn’t recommend it more.
10/10!
