Stately architecture and a steady influx of European immigrants earned Buenos Aires the nickname, the Paris of South America. Founded in 1536, this surprisingly navigable metropolis reveals influence of Europe and the Middle East in architecture and café life. A vibrant port city, Buenos Aires is also the world’s leading Spanish language publishing center. With a population of 13 million, it has the cultural intrigue found only in cities of this size and prestige.

The program details

This intensive, eight-week summer program is dedicated to Spanish language acquisition through classroom instruction combined with cultural and community activities. Students complete 15 hours of class per week, taught entirely in Spanish, and are divided into different language level groups according to American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)-based assessment, which includes an online component before departure, and written and oral exams in Buenos Aires.

The CIEE Global Institute is currently located at the urban campus of Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), an international, inter-governmental organization devoted to research, development, and education in social sciences.

All students agree to speak only Spanish to foster language proficiency and cultural understanding.
