So, you want the photo spots
Just like Arby’s has the meat, I have the spots you’ve been looking for all over Seoul and beyond
As my roommate can attest, I have traveled to many different parts of Korea. I have also explored neighborhoods of Seoul like Gangnam/Apgujeong, Hongdae, Hapjeong, Sinchon, and Gwanak (highly residential and random). Thus, I have collected an array of beautiful pictures and favorite places all over Korea. Here I’ll focus a bit more heavily on Seoul (check out more articles for more favorites throughout Korea).
1.Apgujeong – Detroit Pizza
The Detroit Pizza Police box was perfect for colorful lighting (the lights are color changing). If you have a professional camera or talent with portrait mode you could take some pinterest worthy shots for your memories.
2.Gangnam – Line Friends Store
I am personally a huge BTS fan and thus had to visit these little BT21 guys while I was in Korea. The Line friends store was two or three stories and had photo spot upon photo spot. My personal favorite is Mang, but you can get pictures with any of the Line/BT21 characters depending on your preference.
3. Seoul - Gyeongbokgung
Gyeongbokgung is one of the few Seoul palaces that I have seen (I have visited Gyeongbokgung and Deoksugung) and the largest palace in Seoul. With CIEE, I was able to take a trip to the palace in a Hanbok (Korean traditional garb) with one of the Yecco club students who gave us a tour of the palace and was amazing at taking pictures. I was able to realize all of my historical drama dreams there and act out scenes from my favorites. As a bonus, I visited the palace again in the scholar’s version of the hanbok. I would have to say I enjoyed that attire more as it made me feel truly powerful and as if I owned the palace. (Although I suppose the king would have been the one to feel that way.)
4. Seoul – Deoksugung
Visiting Deoksugung at night is a special opportunity. It is magnificently lit from within many of the structures. There are beautiful sculptures that you can take photos with (though I opted out of those as I was tired when I went to the Palace). A tour of this palace will also provide some interesting historical insights.
5. Busan – Gamcheon Village
The only place outside of Seoul on this list (excluding Ilsan as it is fairly close) is Busan, Gamcheon Village. I had to share this in my first list as it is my all-time favorite place in Korea PERIOD. The first time I visited, I went during the daytime in the heat of summer (maybe a mistake) and the second time I went in early winter at night. Both were beautiful if a bit brutal. The wind was cold and we visited an open air café that is not far from the spot photographed. I felt artistically inspired whenever I entered the village and amazed by the colors and joyous beauty. I would recommend Gamcheon Village regardless of season if you have time to visit. I wish I could have stayed there for much longer.
I hope you can enjoy some of these photo spots as much as I did and share them all over social media or with your family/friends back home. For more photo spots in Seoul and beyond, look for part 2 of photo spots.
