Sinchon Eats ──★ ˙🍓 ̟ !!

You’re in Sinchon and you’re not sure where to eat? Well I got you! Welcome to Olive’s food blog! (๑>؂•̀๑)

Imagine, you’ve just finished your classes from Yonsei University, it’s 5 pm and you’re tired and hungry. The first thing you do is pull out your phone to look up restaurants on NAVER, but no worries - I got you! 

During my time abroad, I’ve tried a lot of restaurants and here are some that I really enjoy so far! (To preface this is my personal opinion, but I think you should give what I recommend a shot :P). 

These are the places I like to hit up a lot. 딸기골 (meaning Strawberry Valley) has food for cheap and the service is really quick! It is about a 15 minute walk from the main campus, but less than a 5 minute walk if you live in the International House or SK global dorms. It’s a restaurant where you can go to eat by yourself too, if you feel like unwinding alone. (This restaurant has become a quick go-to for me and my friends, and a comfort restaurant for me when I’m tired). They have dishes like kimchi jjigae, sundubu, bulgogi, budae jjigae, and so much more! It’s perfect for any weather, also they serve swelteringly hot dishes in stone pots and more refreshing and cold dishes for summer. 

Next is Baeksojeong Sinchon Branch. This is about a 5-10 minute walk from the Yonsei main gates, depending on how fast you walk, and it serves Japanese food. There are soba noodles, udon, katsu, and mazesoba. The food again comes out quick and delicious. I recommend giving it a shot if you like Japanese food and wanna try out some things you haven’t before. Again, this is a place where you can eat alone or you can eat with friends! 

Next up we have dessert places! One of my favorite spots is Sulbing, which serves bingsu (Korean shaved ice). They have a variety of flavors such as strawberry, mango, matcha, red bean, and even dubai chocolate at one point! They constantly change their flavors and add new flavors to their menu. The dessert shop is also on the second floor of a building, so if you like people watching or just want a nice window seat then this place is for you. 

Another dessert place I love is A Twosome Place. Again, they have a delicious set menu with fruit cakes, tea cakes, chocolate cakes, and a variety of coffee and drinks. It is also a good study spot if you want a snack and some light background noise as you work. The atmosphere is nice and it is usually full of students and people who live in the area! 

Another dessert place that I must mention is Piehole! The desserts are super delicious and creative, and the inside of the cafe is super cute!
