It’s cultural excursion time! I chose to go on the weeklong CIEE sponsored trip to Taiwan and it may have been the highlight of my study abroad experience thus far! Since most Chinese study visas are single entry, I had to get my visa adjusted with the help of the CIEE staff to leave Mainland China for the week, but it was definitely worth it! We started our trip in the south of Taiwan in a city called Kenting. There we got to relax on the beach, check out the night markets, go water tubing behind a jet ski, and snorkel! Then we moved to the middle of the country where we had an enlightening experience at a local city council as well as participated in a service project at a cerebral palsy organization. The last stop of our trip was in the capital city, Taipei. Here we got to enjoy the famous night market and take in the view of the famous Taipei 101 skyscraper.
