Planning a trip to Busan in less than a week
By: Yohanan Brown
As the semester was starting to come to an end my friends and I decided to take a trip to Busan. We were at dinner on a Monday as we looked at our schedules for the rest of the semester. We quickly realized that the only weekend they would work would be that Friday/Saturday.
So with this limited time, we had to figure out when we would leave, how we would get there, and where we were staying. Thankfully we got KTX tickets to take the Train to Busan and rented an Airbnb. The train took about 3 to 4 hours and we left Seoul around 5 am to get a full day of adventuring.
Once we got to Busan Station we kept our baggage in a storage locker and went to our first stop, or at least that was the plan but since we had been on that train for a while we went to get food. We stopped by a burger place called DOSYM. I don't remember how we found it but the burger was good and the mozzarella sticks were a 7 out of 10. They also gave us Korean Sweet Potato(Goguma).
Eventually, they made it to our original first stop, the Gamcheon Culture Village. While it was a little cold it was beautiful. I also bought a postcard and some earrings to help remember my time there. Afterward, we then headed back to the station to get our stuff before checking into our Airbnb located near Haeundae Beach. We took a little break by watching the Train to Busan(Shout-out Ma Dong Seok) before heading to the market next to where we were to get dinner. This marked the end of day one. We were definitely tired but were also excited for our last and final day in Busan.
Day 2 was marked by visiting beaches. We first went to Haeundae Beach and saw many birds and that was very cool. Next, we went to a fish market to buy some raw fish. It was definitely 10 out of 10, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Busan. Next, it was time for another beach so we went to Gwangalli Beach to spend some more time looking around before heading to Songo to enjoy a cable car ride. I was definitely a little nervous as we were getting on, but it was nice to look around and since we went during sunset this allowed us to have some really great views.
After the car ride, we had kbbq before heading to Gwangalli Beach again to watch the drone show that was going on. I haven’t been able to see the drone shows in Seoul so it was nice. This marked the end of our time in Busan as we had to wake up early at 4am for our train back to Seoul. Overall I am glad I was able to take this trip and experience some of the South of Korea.
