FALL BLOCK I - MUIZENBERG
Considered by some to be the birthplace of surfing in South Africa, Muizenberg is a small, coastal village on the outskirts of Cape Town with an interesting story to tell. Although it has its roots in colonial conquest and was the holiday getaway of choice for infamous colonial characters such as Cecil John Rhodes, Muizenberg today is a diverse and vibrant community. To explore some of this diversity, this study tour will be organised around the rhetorical question ‘Who is Muizenberg?’ Through a deep dive into a single community, we will introduce you to some of the complexity and heterogeneity that characterizes South Africa as a whole.
