London!
By: Lisa Sugimoto
I studied abroad in London through CIEE for two blocks and can confidently say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Kentish Town was the perfect location, right on the outskirts of the bustling city but still close enough to everything. I would even be able to walk to class from Kentish on the sunny days! London was intimidating at first, but with time, I was able to slowly find my way throughout this huge, bustling city. From the daily commutes on the tube to class, to the abundance of coffee shops littering the streets, it was easy to finally begin calling London my home for the next three months. I was able to travel on the weekends with my new friends I made and explore outside of the UK. From Barcelona to Paris to Budapest, London was the perfect destination to fly in and out of and see the rest of Europe. CIEE played a huge part in helping us all explore the rest of England, outside of London. I took a day trip with the program to Brighton, a coastal town that contrasted the city’s skyscrapers with the serene sea. There was also another day trip to Bath, the birthplace of many pieces of literature and the set for many scenes in historic British television. Truly, I can’t think of a better city or program for studying abroad and making this an experience I will never forget.
