K-Beauty: Hair
I started getting highlights in middle school and got tired of the constant dryness, friziness, and feeling like I "had" to go back every three months to get my roots redone. Last winter, I booked my final touch-up appointment and waited for my trip to Korea to get my natural hair color back.
TLDR
WHERE: I chose to go to Juno Hair, a popular hair salon chain with multiple locations in the Sinchon area. They have a variety of services at a moderate price and have excellent customer service.
WHAT: I got four services done. Color, scalp scaling, treatment, and a cut (in that order) over a 2-3 hour appointment. Check their website for pricing! www.junohair.com
HOW: A friend and I went to the salon in-person 3-4 days before our desired appointment date. We spoke with a stylist about what we were looking to get and she quickly assessed our hair. Relying on PapaGo for communication, we easily booked an appointment with her (at the same time too!)
DETAILS
During the appointment, I was offered snacks, refreshments, pillows, etc to ensure I was comfortable. Since I had had previously bleached my hair, my stylist recommended I get their darkest color to avoid fading. The scalp scaling was so refreshing and, while I couldn't tell a difference right away, has definitely reduced the oily-ness of my scalp. Juno Hair has five levels of treatment. My stylist recommended I get the highest level, Keratin, because my hair was so damaged from bleach. Since I plan to get treatments throughout my time in Korea, I opted for level four. I got my usual cut: long layers. My stylist understood the look I was going for without any pictures! After I was done, they showed me some Juno approved products that would help me keep my hair looking and feeling healthy.
I'm so glad I waited to get my hair done in Korea. Juno was definitely a great place to go to get all of these services done efficiently and effectively while also feeling pampered :) However, I want to see what a smaller salon is like as well. There are so many places to go in Seoul and I definitely recommend having this experience in Korea!
