Jordyn Forni is one of our Open Camus Fall 2005 students! She has been in Berlin since August, for Block I and II. Jordyn also did her internship in Berlin, in a startup called Fyrce Care, a digital platform for fertility and reproductive awareness. As Jordyn explains, “It was truly a unique opportunity to work so closely with the founders of a company, and work within a team with different backgrounds from my own! “ We talked with her and her manager, Johanna Rief, co-founder and CEO of Fyrce Care, to know more about her experience!

Johanna Rief is the co-founder and CEO of Fyrce Care. Her background is in international business and communications. “ I’ve spent several years working in global public relations, with a focus on women’s health, sexuality and topics that often remain taboo. I’m passionate about using storytelling to create social impact, especially when it comes to empowering women with information about their bodies and their choices”.

Could you tell us a bit more about Fyrce Care?

Johanna: Fyrce Care is a digital platform for fertility and reproductive awareness. We support women who are preparing to freeze their eggs or planning a pregnancy to understand their egg health better. Our goal is to make this knowledge accessible, science-based and integrated into everyday life. We want reproductive health to become a regular part of self-care, not something women only think about when it’s urgent.

Jordyn Forni is originally from New York City, and goes to Elon University in North Carolina, where she studies journalism and political science. At school, Jordyn  works for The Edge Magazine as a staff writer.

How has the experience of doing and internship abroad been? Main challenges and opportunities?

Jordyn: At my internship in Fyrce Care, I have had the opportunity to practice my writing in a more practical sense, work with a team, and hone in on my voice as a writer. I have found this to be extremely helpful during my internship!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship at Fyrce Care. Being able to get real-world work experience in Berlin has truly been a unique experience in itself. However, I have particularly learned a lot from my particular internship placement. In my role as a communications intern, I have had the opportunity to explore different professional roles where I can apply my passion for writing.

Which was the part you most enjoyed?

Jordyn: My favorite part of the internship was getting to know my supervisors, the co-founders of Fyrce Care. It was truly a unique opportunity to work so closely with the founders of a company, and work within a team with different backgrounds from my own!

How has it been to have an intern from CIEE Berlin?

Johanna: It has been a great experience. In the early stages of a company, having motivated and curious people on board is incredibly valuable. International interns like Jordyn bring new energy, ideas and a different perspective. That has been a big help to us as we shape our product and mission. We believe that diverse input makes our work stronger, especially on a topic as global and personal as fertility.

Could you share a bit about Jordyn’s role at Fyrce Care?

Jordyn has contributed to many different parts of the company. She helped with research, communications and content creation. Further, she was a great help when organizing our launch event taking place in a few days. She was always thoughtful, proactive and kind, and we’re very grateful she joined us for this chapter.
