A Day Trip to Nami Island: Enter the Land of Fantasy
The trip to Nami Island was an experience a lot of young people should have. Within the island, there is stunning scenery, live and free entertainment, great food, and a calming atmosphere to bask in. We took a ferry ride to the island, but we also saw that you could zip line your way to the island as well. Wouldn't that be a dramatic entrance? Upon arriving at the island, it was interesting to know the history as to why the island was named Nami, and that General Nami, the founder, the tomb is preserved there. The island is famous because the drama "Winter Sonata" was filmed there, so tourists constantly come here.
People who live in Nami Island are very resourceful with their waste. Wood turns into posts, fences, or sculptures, plastic is made into art, glass and even soju bottles are turned into mosaic pieces. We visited a unique hotel where the interior was all made of reusable scraps. It was honestly stunning, especially the hanging pieces.
Our lunch was chicken and pajeon (Korean pancake). It was one of the tastiest lunches I have had in Korea, and it will definitely make you happily full!
Just like Jeju Island with its Hallabong statues, Nami Island's statues are cute snowmen. I was very fond of them once I saw them scattered around the island. I was obsessed with the Hallabong statues, so these snowmen were the next best thing. Apparently, they were a symbol of Winter Sonata, so that is the reason why there are so many.
You may end up walking a ton through different trails and paths. There is always an option to rent bicycles, family mini electric cars, and electric scooters. I choose to ride the electric scooter, and it was very thrilling to zoom through the island and see all the beauty it has to offer. It only costs 10,000 won to rent for an hour.
Although our time here was very short, it was amazing to see something different. Nami Island is beautiful in every season, so come here to see all the scenery from snow to sun.
