A Culinary Journey Through Madrid
By: Hayley Bloch
Madrid is a city known for its vibrant food scene, offering an array of flavors that range from traditional Spanish dishes to modern, international delights. Throughout my time in Madrid I made it my personal mission to find the best culinary offerings of the city. To start off your day on the right foot, I recommend going to Mazal Bagels. Mazal Bagels is a hidden gem for anyone craving authentic New York-style bagels. Located in the city’s bustling Chamberí neighborhood, this charming spot offers a delightful twist on traditional bagels, combining quality ingredients with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The bagels here are made fresh daily, with a chewy, slightly crispy exterior and a soft, flavorful interior that transports you straight to the streets of Manhattan. For lunch, head over to Divorare for the best comfort food Madrid has to offer. Divorare is a renowned Italian focacceria in Madrid, celebrated for its artisanal focaccias crafted with high-quality ingredients imported directly from Italy. With multiple locations across the city, including Chueca and Moncloa, Divorare has garnered a loyal following. My favorite sandwich is the “Eat Home” which offers Artisan focaccia with Mortadella, Stracciatella, Pesto and Pistachio. Sushita Cafe is the perfect dinner spot for guests of all ages. The charming Japanese eatery blends sushi with Mediterranean influences, offering a unique take on traditional Japanese flavors. Their sushi rolls are always perfectly crafted, and their bowls are packed with vibrant, healthy ingredients. To end the night on a sweet note visit Myka. Myka specializes in handcrafted Greek yogurt ice cream, offering a variety of toppings like pistachio, honey, and Baklava. From authentic bagels to inventive tapas and unique fusion sushi, Madrid’s culinary offerings are a true reflection of the city’s rich blend of tradition and innovation, making it a must-visit destination for food lovers.
