CIEE SEVILLE ADVANCED LIBERAL ARTS PROGRAM, ISSUE I
GREETINGS FROM SEVILLE!
The fall semester 2017 of the CIEE Advanced Liberal Art program took off two weeks ago with a really useful orientation to guide our students in their abroad experience. After arrivals, students were assisted by local CIEE staff members to get accommodated with their new host families at their new homes, as well as to get familiarized with their neighborhood, the CIEE study Center, and the main utilities of the city. Topics like health and safety or academic affairs were dealt in different sessions during those days. During the weekend, they had the opportunity to explore the city and visited the Alcazar of Seville.
Students also had academic appointments to generate their class schedules for the semester and some students took a campus tour to get to become familiar with where they are going to take classes: University of Pablo de Olavide and University of Seville.

INTENSIVE SESSION
After the orientation, the semester began with the two intensive Spanish courses:
LANGUAGE IMMERSION WEEKEND
During this past weekend, students enjoyed the immersion weekend, “Fin de Semana de Inmersión”. During two days, our students and fifteen Spanish students enjoyed their stay in a rural complex where they engaged in a lot of activities to improve their use of Spanish and to gain confidence using it.

This was not a touristic excursion but rather one of engaging in conversation with Spanish peers in various settings. We think this is the best way for our students to become more confident with their Spanish skills and it’s a good way to learn about the Spanish university life.

They enjoyed a lot of activities such as wine tasting and cooking classes…

…and outdoors activities such as kayak, giant bubble making and archery!

We’re looking forward to a succesful semester.
