Semester in Madrid

By: Leo Madera

Studying abroad in Madrid has given me the chance to explore Europe in ways I never imagined. My most exciting trips were done in a span of 4 Days adventure through three incredible countries: Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom. From side quests in Lisbon to a Michelin-star meal in London, this trip was packed with unforgettable moments.

Lisbon: A City of Side Quests

Our journey began in Lisbon, where we dove into exploration. We visited Castelo de São Jorge, a historic castle with breathtaking city views, then took a boat ride across the Tagus River. One of the most unexpected highlights was stumbling upon a lively carnival, where we joined the festivities before heading to a karaoke bar to end the night on a high note.

Of course, Lisbon’s food was unforgettable. We explored the famous Time Out Market and treated ourselves to perfectly cooked steak and fries, simple but incredible.

Madrid: A Quick Reset

After Lisbon, we returned to Madrid, our home base. Since our classes only run from Tuesday to Thursday, we used this time to catch up on rest and prepare for the next leg of our journey. Madrid’s familiarity made for the perfect recharge.

London: Food, Culture & Landmarks

Next stop—London. We started our culinary tour with a full English breakfast, then experienced making our own gin. A Michelin-starred restaurant delivered the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had, and we couldn’t leave without trying the famous Sunday roast.

Between meals, we visited Big Ben and London Bridge, taking in the city's historic charm.

Final Thoughts

Three countries in four days was a whirlwind, but the mix of food, adventure, and culture made it unforgettable. Would I do it again? Absolutely!
