Best Eats and Cafes in Sinchon
Best Eats and Cafes in Sinchon
When I first chose Yonsei University, I was excited to explore Seoul’s popular neighborhoods, like Myeongdong, Hongdae, and Seongsu, especially for their restaurants and trendy cafés. However, commuting to these areas regularly was quite time-consuming, so I began exploring closer to campus. I then discovered that Sinchon has many incredible cafes and restaurants!
Restaurants:
Norongjitong: A delicious, herbal BBQ chicken with a variety of toppings (I highly recommend the corn cheese one)! It’s an entire chicken, so bring a friend! This was the most tender, flavorful chicken, and there was crispy rice to complement the tenderness of the chicken!
장수보감 Jangsubogam: This is a Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant. This is perfect for when you’re feeling sick or just craving something soothing. They also gave us complimentary maesil-cha (plum tea).
Delicious Sundubu and Kimchi-jjim: A 24-hour soft-tofu stew and braised kimchi restaurant. It’s very comforting after a long day of walking and sight-seeing or late night study session.
Pyeongando Sikdang Sinchon: This is also a 24-hour soup restaurant that I visited often, and I highly recommend their Seolleongtang (ox bone soup)!
Cafes: These are all study-friendly cafes!
Chloris Tea & Coffee: This is a cafe that specializes in tea, and they have a great selection for my tea lovers out there! It is also a really cute, cozy study spot that’s open till 11 PM.
Cafe 4293 (카페4293): This cafe is near Ewha Women’s University, and they have a great selection of food, desserts, and yummy drinks! Their coffee is exceptional, and I highly recommend the chicken breast croissant sandwich. It is a great study spot with an open area, big windows, and a really cute vibe.
Cafe Namu: I frequented this cafe a lot! They have a good selection of drinks and desserts, and I love their Yakgwa ice cream. It is also a 24-hour cafe, so it is a great place to study.
Let Me Alone Cafe: This is a cute study spot with a variety of drinks and yummy food. It’s very close to Yonsei, so it is convenient to go to if you want to grab a coffee and study before class.
Bonus: Oozy Coffee: This is a very small coffee shop and most people take it to-go, but Oozy has a wide variety of interesting, delicious drinks for an affordable price! Most drinks range from 1,500 won to 5,000 won, making it a budget-friendly choice while still allowing you to try fun drinks!
