GAIN Travel Grant and Gilman Go Global - Need Based Grants
Cost should not be an obstacle to study abroad. CIEE has funding options for you!
To apply for GAIN, you need to provide your FAFSA Student Aid Report. CIEE will award need-based grants based on a student’s Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and program selection. To apply for Gilman Go Global, you need to provide proof of an eligible application to the Benjamin A Gilman International Scholarship.

GAIN Travel Grant
$350 to $2,000 toward airfare; award amount depends on CIEE program location.
Eligibility: The Global Access Initiative (GAIN) Travel Grant helps cover outbound and return airfare to all CIEE program locations for students who demonstrate financial need. Students eligible for Federal Pell Grants are guaranteed a CIEE GAIN Travel Grant. To receive this grant, students must complete and submit their CIEE Scholarships and Grants application by October 15 (January* and spring programs), or by April 1 (summer and fall programs). CIEE GAIN Travel Grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
GILMAN GO GLOBAL GRANT
Go Global Grant recipients also automatically receive a GAIN Travel Grant!
Semester Programs: $2,500 toward program costs
Summer Programs: $1,000 toward program costs
Eligibility: Qualified applicants for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship are eligible for a CIEE Go Global Grant, regardless of whether they are selected as a Gilman Scholar. Students must upload proof of application submission to the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and submit their CIEE Scholarships and Grants application by October 15 for spring programs, or April 1 for summer and fall programs to be eligible for the grant. Unfortunately, CIEE January programs are not eligible for CIEE Go Global Grants.

Note: For calendar year 2020, maximum scholarship and grant award amounts are $4,000 for spring or fall semester programs (two Open Campus Blocks [quarter calendar students] or three Open Campus Blocks [semester calendar students]), $2,000 for summer programs and $1,000 for January programs.
*January programs based in Latin America are ineligible for CIEE funding. In the event you are selected for multiple awards, CIEE may contact you to revise the size of your award total.
Important: All students applying for CIEE funding must complete the CIEE scholarships and grants task on their application before published CIEE scholarships and grants deadlines. Applications completed after CIEE deadlines will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may not be eligible for awards.
