Overview

Your CIEE Semester Global Internship program in Osaka blends professional development with cultural immersion in one of Japan’s most commercially active and people‑driven cities. This program includes three components: A full‑time internship with a local or international organization, a required internship seminar, and the option to take an online course through CIEE’s global academic partner, ASU. Complement your experience with co‑curricular and extracurricular activities such as strolling Osaka Bay’s waterfront districts at sunset, exploring neighborhood shopping streets filled with independent boutiques and cafes, or enjoying evening views from city observation decks that showcase Osaka’s urban scale and energy. Build career skills, expand your professional network, and experience everyday life in a city known for its openness, momentum, and personality.

Excursions & Activities

CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Osaka will open doors for you to explore Japan's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.        

Samples of excursions and activities: 

  • Visit Nara Deer Park and Tōdai‑ji to see the world’s largest bronze Buddha and interact with the sacred deer that roam freely around the historic temple grounds 
  • Walk through a life-sized recreation of Edo‑period Osaka, exploring how daily life and the city’s streetscapes have evolved over centuries 
  • Witness Japan’s national sport by attending a live sumo tournament or a morning training session at a local stable, exploring the power, ritual, and tradition of sumo
