Your Destination
Rome is simply a one-of-a-kind destination. Once the center of Western civilization, and with a history spanning over 2,500 years, Rome houses some of the world’s most-visited attractions. It also includes Vatican City, an independent country within Rome’s boundaries.
CIEE wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. Local CIEE staff have provided details about conditions and cultural attitudes that students with specific identities might encounter in Rome.

HOUSING
All housing is within a 40-minute commute to CIEE.
Apartments: Most students live in apartments shared with other CIEE students. If local health and safety regulations permit, most students live in double or triple rooms. Each apartment will have shared common spaces, including kitchen and bathroom.
Homestays: Students live with an Italian family, with or without another CIEE student, and immerse in the city’s language and culture. Each student has an individual room.
Housing is tight in Rome, so housing decisions are at the sole discretion of CIEE. If we cannot accommodate your first housing preference, we’ll let you know before you arrive. -
MEALS
Apartments: Meals are not included.
Homestays: Host families provide breakfast and dinner, and students are responsible for lunch.
