Choose Mumbai and you’ll choose to spend a summer in the world’s fourth largest city by population and the commercial capital of the one of its fastest growing economies. As a CIEE Global Intern, you’ll work in a non-paying position with a leading organization, diving into a field of interest, exploring a different culture, and expanding your professional portfolio and network. Your exploration of the city formerly known as Bombay will lead to artistic, intellectual, and culinary discoveries in the place that is the site of Asia’s oldest stock exchange, India’s Fashion Weeks, and home of Bollywood, Mumbai’s global film industry.

Old and new. Rich and poor. Classical and modern. Mumbai’s commercial prosperity is reflected in its gleaming skyscrapers and booming film industry. Throughout their program, student interns will have an experience like no other as they encounter the industry, energy and diversity of one the most fascinating cities in the world.
EXCURSIONS & ACTIVITIES
- Take a crash course in Hindi, the official language of India, along with English.
- Tour local markets, visit the Gateway of India, India’s most valued structure, and take an Indian cooking class.
- Explore the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly The Prince of Wales Museum), a renowned museum in South Mumbai which houses rare ancient exhibits of Indian history
- Relax on one of Mumbai’s many beaches including Girgaum Chowpatty, Juhu, and Gorai Beach.
- Take advantage of resume help and interviewing skills based on local business culture
- Explore the professional working world of Mumbai through organizational site visits, industry networking events, and guest lectures
- Participate in workshops that will help you make the most of your internship

Program housing is at the YMCA International Guest House, located in the heart of colonial Mumbai. Program housing includes shared (double or triple) rooms, laundry facilities, internet access and convenience to public transportation.
Meals (breakfast and dinner) are included in the program housing.
Where You'll Study
CIEE STUDY CENTER - MUMBAI
Students commute to their internships and most program activities via local public transportation. Introduction to the system is provided during orientation and students are responsible for securing their own public transportation pass. Program housing is convenient to public transportation and all internship locations are accessible.

As a global intern in Mumbai, you’ll work in a non-paying position within a wide range of opportunities across a diverse set of innovative industries. Co-curricular excursions and cultural activities in and around Mumbai complement your coursework and immerse you in the history and culture of the city.
This 8-week program includes a full-time internship and an integrated academic seminar.

Students need to have a GPA of at least 2.5. Rising Sophomore standing and above required at time of participation. *Additional visa restrictions may apply and CIEE will advise students as part of the early application process.
Students participate in an academic seminar taught in an online learning environment alongside the 8-week, full-time internship. Participation in the integrated academic seminar is mandatory for all participants.
Total credit for the program is 6 semester/9 quarter hours
Students participate in an online academic seminar taught alongside the full-time internship placement. The weekly seminar is designed to prepare students for leadership in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse workforce.

YOUR FEE INCLUDES:
- Meals (breakfast and dinner) are included in the program housing.
- Advising before you depart to set goals and answer questions
- Optional on-site airport meet-and-greet
- Orientation – an introduction to Indian culture, your academic program, and the city, plus practical information about living in your host city

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, ask your college or university study abroad advisor if your school charges additional fees for study abroad.

CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel insurance with benefits.

Students are responsible and manage costs related to travel, meals, books, and personal expenses. Below are estimates for consideration.

CIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $5 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, MSI grants, Gilman matching grants, and Pell matching grants.
This breakdown has been prepared from the program budget for the purpose of calculating eligibility for financial aid. During the course of program operations, actual figures may vary. It should not, therefore, be used as a basis for calculation of refunds. CIEE reserves the right to adjust fees at any time.
Students required to study on CIEE programs through a School of Record will be charged a $500 administrative fee in addition to the Program Fees listed.
