Program housing is in student dormitory or apartment-style accommodations and includes shared (double or triple) rooms, kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, and access to public transportation.
Meals are not included in the program housing but students do have access to cooking facilities and are given a briefing during orientation about local markets and stores.
Students commute to their internships and most program activities via local public transportation. Introduction to the system is provided during orientation and students are responsible for securing their own public transportation pass. Program housing is convenient to public transportation and all internship locations are accessible.

As a global intern in Toronto, you’ll work in a non-paying position within a wide range of opportunities across a diverse set of innovative industries. Co-curricular excursions and cultural activities in and around Toronto complement your coursework and immerse you in the history and culture of the city.
This 8-week program includes a full-time internship and an integrated academic seminar.
There are no specific language requirements for this program.
Rising sophomore standing and above at time of participation. Students participating in the Toronto Summer Global Internship program must maintain full-time student status while participating in the program and must have matriculated full-time at home university at least three months prior to application. Students should be prepared to obtain a signed letter from their home university confirming student matriculation details. Students must be between the ages of 18 and 30 during the internship program. *Additional visa restrictions may apply and CIEE will advise students as part of the early application process.
Students participate in an academic seminar taught in an online learning environment alongside the eight-week, full-time internship and weekly co-curricular workshops, site visits, and lectures. Participation in the integrated academic seminar and co-curriculars is mandatory for all participants.
Total credit: 6 U.S. semester/9 quarter credits
Internship: 6 U.S. semester/9 quarter credits; 30 integrated academic seminar hours, 200-240 internship placement hours
Students are expected to dress and behave professionally throughout their internship project and are subject to the agreed-upon internship protocols arranged by CIEE and the host organizations. The weekly seminar is designed to prepare students for leadership in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse workforce.
Students participate in an eight-week CIEE full-time internship and academic seminar taught in an online learning environment, complemented by a number of on-site curricular activities, such as site visits, workshops, and guest lectures. Classes, co-curricular excursions, and/or work hours may be scheduled Monday-Friday, and attendance is strictly enforced for all. To avoid falling behind, students should not plan personal travel away from the city when classes are in session.
Students will be assessed via assignments and activities related to the academic seminar, including but not limited to: online discussion forums, small group peer coaching, reflective papers, individual or group presentations, analysis of readings, an informational interview and internship work plan, and feedback from internship supervisor. Internship supervisors and students each provide written evaluations of progress towards goals.

CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel insurance with benefits.

CIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $8 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, institutional and MSI grants, and Gilman Go Global Grants.
This breakdown has been prepared from the program budget for the purpose of calculating eligibility for financial aid. During the course of program operations, actual figures may vary. It should not, therefore, be used as a basis for calculation of refunds. CIEE reserves the right to adjust fees at any time.
Students required by their US home institution to study abroad via CIEE's School of Record will be charged a $500 administrative fee in addition to the Program Fees listed.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
