As the world begins to recover after two years of the pandemic, study abroad programs have almost returned to a normal situation. Now would be a great time to review our summer 2022 internship programs.

  • In 2022 CIEE offered Summer Internship programs in 12 locations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia plus a Virtual Internship program. Students were able to choose between some traditional internship locations like Berlin, Barcelona, or London, as well as some new additions to our program portfolio, including Dublin, Rome, or Sydney.
  • Almost 60% of the students participated in internships in one of the 3 most popular categories, STEM, Business and Marketing. Other popular categories include Healthcare, Education, Communications, Sustainability, and NGO/Non-profit.
  • More than 20% of our students had internships in 26 additional categories that, because they may require more specialized knowledge, and may be less popular, but are no less important. In this group of categories, we can find internships in industries like Law, Supply Chain, Sports Management, Architecture and Film.

Another key component of our programs are the extracurricular activities, workshops and excursions included program - and we would like to highlight some of the activities that were most highly rated by our students. Other than typical walking tours, visits to museums, monuments, cooking classes, etc. our interns have been able to attend a Personal Branding workshop in Barcelona or an online Salary Negotiation and a session about finding a job in Lisbon.

Berlin students enjoyed a day trip to Potsdam where they even had a boat tour! A visit to Robben Island in Cape Town, a movie night in Copenhagen, a visit to Ireland’s largest tech community, Dogpatch Labs in Dublin.

In London students enjoyed a cream tea at the British Museum, in Prague they had an excursion to Pilsen, home to Pilsner Urquell Brewery, and in Rome students had a Papal audience at St. Peter, Vatican City.

An excursion outside Seville to the city of Sanlúcar de Barrameda where students were able to visit a Sherry Winery and learn about its history and how this excellent wine is produced, a Tiger Brewery visit in Singapore or a Bondi Beach walk in Sydney (it was winter there!), have been some of the highlights of this Summer that all our interns have been able to enjoy.
