Stop One: Sinchon
Since the CIEE program started a month ago, I would like to share with you my favorite places to eat in the Sinchon neighborhood! Whether it is to eat sweets, drink coffee, or eat a full meal, keep reading for my recommendations for the Sinchon area!
Starting with cafes, there are definitely a great place to get together with friends.
Twosome Place
Although Twosome Place is a coffeehouse chain, the environment that each location produces is unique to that specific store. There are areas for people who would like to study, but there is also a bright and lively area for people who would like to relax.
Address: 서울 서대문구 연세로1 (1 Yonsei-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul)
Everline
This is a beautiful, bright, and well designed cafe. Even though it is simplistic in design, the drinks there definitely are not! My favorite drink at the moment is the Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie. The cafe looks small from the street, but your sight can be deceiving! The first floor is a cafe, second floor an event hall, and for all my Kpop lovers out there, the basement floor is a music album store!
Address: 서울특별시 서대문구 신촌역로 29길 (29-gil, Sinchonyeok-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul)
After a relaxing afternoon, there are also a plethora of delicious restaurants in the area!
My favorite Korean restaurant so far is ...
Masinneun Soft Tofu & Braised Kimchi
Infamous for their Soft Tofu Kimchi Stew, this restaurant is the definition of traditional homecooking. Even though the restaurant is usually packed, you wull not have to wait too long, even with a line. You can fully enjoy a small part of the beauty and flavor of korean cooking at this delicious restaurant.
Address: 서울 서대문구 명물길36 (36 Myeongmul-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul)
If you are looking for something light and easy to eat, consider...
싸움의고수 신촌점 Ssaumui Gosu Sinchon Branch
They specialize in jokbal, or braised pig trotters. With the collagen and meat falling off the bones, the amount of flavor that is packed into a little bento is extrordinary and definitely worth a try!
Address: 서울 서대문구 명물길20 (20 Myeongmul-gil, Sinchon-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul)
The Sinchon has a great variety of different foods and cafes, and I look forward to sharing them with you as I discover them! Follow me on Instagram at @___ywh14 for more exciting discoveries and experience to come!
