Nice to meet you!
はじめまして! My name is Fuka Tabuchi, and I am a Program Coordinator for High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) Program at CIEE Kyoto. I am originally from Osaka, so I enjoy feeling the vibes of Kyoto every day working at CIEE. I like singing, dancing, swimming, and travelling, but the best thing I can do to make my life better is sleeping. I am both an indoor and outdoor person, so I keep myself very busy in my spare time. If you are interested in hip-hop/R&B music, please let me know what your favorite songs are!
Having learned English as a child, I knew I wanted to use English to build bridges between Japan and other countries. The picture below is Canterbury, England, where I studied abroad. I miss there so much! I would be very happy if the experiences I have gained and the things I have studied are useful in connecting Japan and the world.
Since I started to work at CIEE Kyoto, I have met a lot of people and shared cultural things with them. Students will encounter cultural experiences here, and I am happy to see students feel the Japanese way of life. Meeting new friends, studying in class, and taking part in activities in the heart of Kyoto will be special memories for students.
I also would like to recommend that you travel around Japan- Japan has 47 prefectures, and travelling all of them is on my bucket list. Here are some of the places I visited.
Itsukushima Shrine (Miyajima), Hiroshima Prefecture
Hiroshima is a good place to know the history of Japan, and you also can enjoy a beautiful scenery of the shrine with the sea. You can travel to Miyajima by train from central Hiroshima, and it takes less than 30 minutes. HSSA Language & Culture students went there on an overnight excursion last year.
Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture
Kawagoe is a city that retains the mood of the Edo period. Located about an hour from Tokyo Station, it is suitable for a day trip. There are many coffee shops (Kissaten) where visitors can relax and enjoy sweets with coffee in the atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy eating and walking (Tabearuki) on the retro streets.
CIEE Tokyo, Tokyo Prefecture
HSSA Pacific Rim Team gathered at CIEE Tokyo :)
Come to CIEE Kyoto to study, then come back to Japan to travel- you will never get tired of Japan!
