How to Spend an Evening in Sinchon
Sinchon is a major student area in Seoul and is known for being home to several big universities including Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, and Sogang University. This makes for a lively, vibrant atmosphere with lots of things to do. In this post i will be sharing how I like to spend my evenings in Sinchon.
Food
I often start the evening by going out with my friends to eat. Sinchon has many cafes, restaurants, and bars so there are plenty of options to choose from. You can find everything from traditional Korean dishes like bibimbap and tteokbokki to international foods such as burgers, pasta, and sushi.
Shopping
Sinchon's streets are lined with various fun shops and stores. After eating, my friends and I usually enjoy a look through some stores, our go-to being Artbox, a popular stationary store that specializes in cute and colorful items like notebooks, pens, and stickers. It also sells snacks, candy, and some tech gadgets, and is an overall fun store to look through. Sinchon also has a lot of clothing shops and cosmetic stores, as well as convenience stores.
Cafes/Study Cafes
With exams coming up or if I'm just in need of a little studying, study cafes are good places to go. A lot of them close late and some are even open 24/7. I find study cafes are a good way to be both productive and go out and enjoy the city. Even when not studying, I find cafes a good place to relax.
Arcade/Claw Games
When I have no pressing assignments, one of my favorite activities is playing arcade games. Gplex in downtown Sinchon has a wide variety of games from claw machines to Dance Dance Revolution.
Karaoke
Another favorite activity of mine is going karaoke with my friends. There are many karaoke places in Sinchon but the current favorite is 악쓰는하마 코인노래연습장. The karaoke rooms are usually open until late and it’s a good way to unwind while having fun.
Photo Booths
Photo booths are everywhere along Sinchon's main streets. They are a great way to make memories with friends and get a little keepsake at the same time.
