Hanbok(Traditional Korean Clothes) Experience at Gyeongbokgung Palace
One of my favorite excursions I did through CIEE was the tour at Gyeongbokgung Palace. After taking a bus, CIEE students and I met at a Hanbok rental shop where we were able to dress in Traditional Korean Clothes.
I found this experience enjoyable as we were able to take several pictures and learn about the history of the palace. I learned that each color in the palace represents a natural element. I also learned about where each member of the royal family was situated. Not only did I learn about the history of the palace but also the key aspects of traditional clothing. I learned that the clothing for women consisted of several pieces including a long dress and a top with long sleeves. The women also had hair accessories and different hairstyles that would compliment their Hanbok.
I enjoyed wearing Hanbok at the Gyeongbokgung Palace because it helped me understand Korean culture and history while walking through the beautiful scenery.
