Fan-meetings in Korea
On March 3rd, I went to see the loves of my life, Astro, for the third time at their fan meeting “The Third ASTRO AROHA Festival [BLACK].” Astro is a six-member boy group formed by Fantagio Entertainment. The members of Astro are: MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eunwoo, Moonbin, Rocky, and Yoon Sanha. They made their debut in 2016 with their title song “Hide & Seek.” When I first watched the music video for “Hide & Seek” I knew that this was going to be the group that I would love forever.
This event was not a concert, but a fan-meeting. Which basically means it was more of a space for the boys to have fun and interact with the fans rather than put on a performance. However, the group did perform 8 songs. Since this was a fan-meeting and not a concert there was a LOT of talking. Fortunately, I could understand about 65-70% of what was being said by the host and the members so it was still an enjoyable time. The venue was huge and it was packed. It is such a satisfying thing to see a large group of people getting together to support these 6 boys who give us so much happiness.
Since I was sitting away from my friends I decided to talk to the people in the seats next to me because, why not! After sitting in my seat for about five minutes, someone finally came and sat next to me on my left. After she got situated I decided to greet her, and soon realized that the person sitting next to me wasn’t what I imagined. Most of Astro’s fans are Korean teenage girls and women in their 20’s, but the woman sitting next to me was completely different. She was a Japanese woman in her 40’s! I was not completely shocked until I learned that she has two children who are both older than me. So, throughout the concert we were conversing with each other in broken English and broken Japanese; it was a great.
