Excursions & Activities
CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Osaka will open doors for you to explore Japan's rich diversity, language, culture, history, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.
Samples of excursions and activities:
- Visit Nara Deer Park and Tōdai‑ji to see the world’s largest bronze Buddha and interact with the sacred deer that roam freely around the historic temple grounds
- Walk through a life-sized recreation of Edo‑period Osaka, exploring how daily life and the city’s streetscapes have evolved over centuries
- Witness Japan’s national sport by attending a live sumo tournament or a morning training session at a local stable, exploring the power, ritual, and tradition of sumo

Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Osaka offers diverse housing options to ensure you're comfortable in your home away from home. Our housing ensures students are always well-connected to the best of the city. Set in welcoming neighborhoods, students will enjoy a peaceful and secure living environment.
Standard Housing: Double accommodation in a residence hall within a 45-minute commute to CIEE Osaka, a single accommodation in a shared apartment within a 45-minute commute to CIEE Osaka, or a homestay located within a 60-minute commute to CIEE Osaka.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive. Non-standard housing options require an additional fee that can be found in the program Dates and Fees.
Meals
- Residence Halls and Shared Apartments: No meals are provided.
- Homestay: Two meals daily to be agreed upon with the host family (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The third meal and/or any snacks are on the student.

Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 7.5-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.
Course Information
Language Classes
- Students interested in a non-introductory language course will be required to take a language assessment to determine their proficiency level. Enrollment will be finalized on-site and is based on assessment outcomes.
