Overview
Hone your skills and maximize your performance on and off the course in Edinburgh, the birthplace of golf.

In Scotland, golf is more than a sport; it’s a source of national pride. Edinburgh is the perfect place to explore the mental side of performance, with more than 20 golf courses in the city limits, some established centuries ago. Alongside fellow Global Navigators, you’ll create a personal performance portfolio as you set goals, practice daily, track your progress, and develop strategies to help you thrive in athletics and beyond.

Over three weeks, you’ll explore the science behind athletic success through topics like visualization, attentional control, and resilience. Visit iconic courses like St. Andrews and Musselburgh Links, where centuries of golf history and traditions come to life. Through daily golf sessions with local peers and Global Navigators, you’ll practice effective strategies athletes use to overcome setbacks and achieve their goals, and track your own performance as you work to reach your goals on and off the course.

Outside the classroom, you’ll immerse yourself in all Edinburgh has to offer. Wander the cobblestone streets on a guided walking tour, explore the National Museum of Scotland, and visit The Chocolatarium to create your own Scottish-inspired chocolates. Experience the exciting atmosphere, traditions, and culture of Scottish Highland Games. Between the confidence you’ll build, the friendships you’ll make, and the lessons you’ll carry forward, your summer in Edinburgh will prepare you to succeed in college and beyond.

The Destination

Welcome to Edinburgh, where legendary fairways and centuries-old traditions bring the spirit of golf to life.

Explore a city where medieval history meets modern life. Home to the renowned Royal Burgess Golf Club, one of the oldest clubs in the world, and twenty other courses, Edinburgh remains one of the most prestigious locations for golfers and golf enthusiasts. The stunning landscapes provide a breathtaking backdrop for every game, while the city’s rich history and heritage invite exploration off the fairway.

Beyond golf, Edinburgh boasts a vibrant arts scene and centuries-old historic landmarks. Walk the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile, sip tea in a cozy café tucked beneath a stone archway, or climb Arthur’s Seat for panoramic views of the city skyline and coastline. Explore the historic halls of Edinburgh Castle, then stop to taste delicious desserts at restaurants and cafés, like Scottish shortbread and cranachan. With its lively neighborhoods and welcoming atmosphere, Edinburgh offers a unique blend of sport and culture that makes for an unforgettable summer abroad.

Experiential Learning in the Scottish Highlands

Trade in the golf course for two unforgettable nights at Benmore Outdoor Centre, a 19th-century manor house nestled among giant redwoods and lush botanical gardens in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. With its grand stone architecture and turreted rooflines, many compare Benmore to Hogwarts, and it’s easy to see why.

Explore the dramatic scenery of misty mountains, ancient forests, and sparkling lakes that make Scotland unique. Under the guidance of experienced outdoor instructors, spend your days gorge walking through rushing streams, scaling rock faces, kayaking across shimmering lochs, and exploring hidden caves alongside fellow Global Navigators. Through team-based challenges and time spent in the Scottish wilderness, you will build confidence, strengthen friendships, and consider how shared experiences can help team dynamics.
