Overview
Savor the flavors of Japanese cooking as you create your own menu in Kyoto.

Stroll through bustling markets filled with seasonal produce and delectable aromas. Team up with new friends for cooking challenges inspired by Japan's most mouth-watering food traditions. As you taste your way from vibrant street snacks to elegant tea ceremony treats, Kyoto offers a summer of cooking, culture, and creativity you'll never forget.

Step into the kitchen each day to take part in cooking classes and friendly competitions that spark your creativity while learning from local chefs. Explore techniques like handcrafting soba noodles, preparing tofu and yuba (tofu skin), and creating delicate kyo-wagashi sweets. Each week builds toward a final challenge where you'll design and present a personal menu inspired by everything you've learned.

When you're not cooking, explore Kyoto's bamboo forests, peaceful temples, and lively Teramachi shopping streets. Take the fun even further with epic excursions to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka and the buzzing neighborhoods of Tokyo, where neon streets, gaming arcades, and anime culture make every moment electric.

The Destination

Welcome to Kyoto, where modern manga and kawaii café culture meet timeless cooking traditions.

Kyoto is where Japanese history and modern life come together. For centuries, student travelers from all over the world have come to experience its stunning temples, traditional wooden houses, and exciting neighborhoods. It’s a city where ancient customs mix with today’s creativity, offering incredible food, sights, and a culture that pulses with energy and style.

In Kyoto’s bustling streets, manga and anime shops sit beside colorful arcades and photo booths. Local cafés serve matcha in every form, alongside kawaii (cute) sweets like mochi, parfaits, and fluffy matcha pancakes. Street food stalls tempt with crispy tempura, silky tofu, and fresh fruit mochi.

Every corner of Kyoto offers a new way to connect with beauty, tradition, and tasty Japanese dishes.
