Overview
Glide through Paris' historic dance scene while refining your skills, culminating in an original dance performance.

Paris has been an international hub for ballet since the 17th century when King Louis XIV founded the world's first ballet school in 1661. The Paris Opéra Ballet, established soon after, remains one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world. With your fellow Global Navigators, use skills learned in and out of the studio to create and perform an original piece reflective of your time in France.

Hit the dance studio 5 to 6 hours Monday through Friday for intensive dance training before diving into comprehensive coursework touching on themes of dance history and foundational techniques. Participate in expert-led workshops exploring traditional French forms such as can-can or baroque court dances.

Meet local teens while exploring Paris's parks, open-air markets and riverside hangouts. On excursions, tour the opulent Palace of Versailles and the medieval town of Provins, known for its well-preserved ramparts. Your time in Paris will merge rigorous dance training and cultural discovery in the City of Light.

The Destination

Welcome to Paris, where creativity flows from grand boulevards to tucked-away dance studios.

Paris is regarded as the birthplace of ballet and is known for its famed cultural institutions like the Opéra Garnier and Théâtre du Châtelet, which have hosted historic performances for over a century. Parisian dance legends like Serge Lifar, who transformed ballet at the Paris Opéra, and Josephine Baker, whose performances broke racial barriers, shaped the history of dance. In its artsy neighborhoods like Montmartre, the world-famous cabaret Moulin Rouge has attracted audiences with its lively can-can shows since 1889.

From elegant courtyards to graffiti-lined walls, you'll find inspiration around every corner. Cafés buzz with conversation, galleries show bold new exhibitions and public spaces like the Tuileries Garden offer a popular gathering place for locals. Paris invites you to embrace the Parisian way of life, from savoring warm crêpes along the Seine to taking in the glow of Avenue des Champs-Élysées at night. In this cosmopolitan capital, tradition and modernity pirouette side by side, providing every dancer a stage and a story.
