Overview
Learn how to create innovative AI solutions in London, a leading hub of technology.

Artificial intelligence is transforming nearly every industry. London’s thriving technology sector and world-leading creative industries make it the ideal place to explore this rapidly advancing technology. Alongside fellow Global Navigators, you’ll collaborate with a local organization to research a real problem and develop an AI-powered prototype to find a solution.

Discover how AI can support, rather than replace, human creativity and decision-making in real-life situations. Through interactive workshops, hands-on experimentation, and guided exploration, you’ll not only learn how AI functions, but also how it affects individuals and systems. Partner with a local organization to craft an innovative, AI-driven prototype of a solution to address issues like access to urban green spaces or product enhancements for a local startup. By collaborating with community members and professionals, you’ll gain valuable insights into their needs and see firsthand how AI can enhance everyday life.

Beyond the classroom, there’s plenty of time to explore London. Step inside the immersive world of Stranger Things: Catalyst at Sandbox VR, where full-body motion tracking and virtual reality transform you and your classmates into the heroes of your own adventure. Then challenge your mind at the Twist Museum, where art, science, and sensory play come together. Your summer in London will inspire you to imagine new possibilities for college and your future career in AI or technology.

The Destination

Welcome to London, the “Capital of the World” and Europe’s leading technology hub.

During the height of the British Empire, London was often called the “Capital of the World” for its outsized influence on global trade, science, and innovation. From the Industrial Revolution to the pioneering work of British mathematician Alan Turing, whose ideas laid the foundation for modern computing, Britain has helped shape technologies that literally changed the world. Today, London continues that tradition as one of Europe’s leading technology hubs, home to pioneering AI companies like Google DeepMind and Synthesia.

London is home to nearly 9 million people and more than 300 languages, making it one of the world’s most diverse cities. Take in history, science, or art at one of its more than 170 museums, then marvel at iconic landmarks like Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace. Stroll through 350-acre Hyde Park or paddle across the Serpentine, its picturesque boating lake. Don’t leave without trying British favorites like sticky toffee pudding, buttery scones with clotted cream, and classic bangers and mash.

Overnight Excursion to Milton Keynes

Travel to Milton Keynes for an overnight journey into the origins of modern computing and artificial intelligence. Begin at Bletchley Park, the historic estate where brilliant codebreakers (including British mathematician Alan Turing) worked in secret to crack Germany’s Enigma code during World War II. Take part in a structured learning session, enjoy a guided tour of the historic site, and discover how the groundbreaking work carried out here helped lay the foundations for modern computing and AI.

On the second day, visit The National Museum of Computing, home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers. See pioneering machines brought back to life, including the rebuilt Colossus, the world’s first programmable electronic digital computer, and trace the evolution of computing from room-sized machines to today’s AI-powered technologies. This unforgettable overnight excursion reveals how yesterday’s innovations continue to inspire the next generation of scientific breakthroughs.

Day Trip to Cambridge

Spend the day exploring Cambridge, home to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities and a leading center for scientific discovery and AI research.

At the Museum of Zoology, experience AI Animal Chat, an interactive exhibit where you can “talk” with AI-powered versions of fascinating specimens by scanning QR codes throughout the museum. Ask questions to a dodo, giant sloth, narwhal, platypus, red panda, extinct huia bird, and other remarkable animals to discover how artificial intelligence can transform the way we learn about the natural world.

In the afternoon, experience one of Cambridge’s most beloved traditions with a leisurely punting excursion along the River Cam. Glide past centuries-old colleges, historic bridges, and picturesque gardens while taking in the city that has inspired generations of scientists, inventors, and Nobel Prize winners. It’s the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology, rich history, and unforgettable scenery.
