Overview
Capture the light, texture, and drama of Rome through your lens this summer.

This summer, travel to Rome with new friends who share your passion for photography and turn one of the world’s coolest cities into your creative playground. Explore ancient archeological sites, Renaissance sculptures, buzzing piazzas, and everyday moments that make Roman life so photogenic. Whether you're using a DSLR or your phone, you’ll build digital photography skills, document your experience, and wrap it all up with a curated portfolio and final gallery show.

In hands-on classes, workshops, and guided photo walks, you’ll learn from professional photographers and practice skills like composition, lighting, and editing in real-world settings. You’ll also dive into the ethics of photography, explore contemporary art galleries, and meet local creatives who use visual storytelling to reflect life in Rome.

There’s plenty of time to relax and explore, too. Grab a scoop of gelato, browse open-air markets, or unwind in Villa Borghese, a sprawling park filled with fountains and sculptures. On excursions to Florence and Tivoli, you’ll photograph Renaissance cathedrals, villa gardens, and classic Italian countryside views. Your summer in Rome will sharpen your creative voice, expand your portfolio, and give you a head start on college applications, competitions, or a future in the arts.

The Destination

Welcome to Rome—where the best photos come with a side of pizza and 2,000 years of history.

Layered with centuries of architecture, art, and invention, Rome is a city built on stories. On a typical afternoon, you might pass crumbling aqueducts, marble statues, and bursts of graffiti on centuries-old buildings. With its architectural variety and dramatic contrasts—light and shadow, old and new, quiet courtyards and chaotic piazzas—Rome is the perfect place to learn photography. Every detail invites you to slow down, look closer, and capture the moment.

When you’re not out shooting, you’ll soak up the best of Roman life. Twirl forkfuls of cacio e pepe, try a flaky maritozzo pastry stuffed with cream, or snack on crispy suppli—fried rice balls with melted cheese inside. Wander through museums filled with ancient artifacts and Renaissance masterpieces. Whether snapping candid shots at an art market or chasing afternoon shadows in a quiet alley, you'll always have something new to discover.

As Italy’s capital, Rome brings together layers of culture from across the country—each neighborhood offering a different flavor, tradition, and visual story. With every day full of color, texture, and motion, you’ll never run out of ways to frame the city.
