Benjamin Johnson

Spanish Language & Culture Seville, Spain

¡Bienvenidos!

My name is Ben Johnson and I am originally from rural Illinois. Professionally, I am a Spanish teacher. I am also a musician, a hiking enthusiast, and I even dabbled in building custom acoustic instruments for about five years. I began an academic study of the Spanish language upon returning from a year-long study abroad program to Costa Rica after high school. During that year, I began to discover for myself that there are so many different ways to live, and that no one way was the right way. I earned a B.A. in the Spanish language, along with a teacher's certificate. I have since held full time positions at both the high school and college levels. Several years ago, I finished a Master's Degree in Spanish Literature, Language and Cultures. I am so excited to be a part of the CIEE-Sevilla team for Session 1. I have traveled to several Latin American countries, and have also spent two summers in Barcelona, Spain, but the opportunity to experience the subtleties of Sevilla and andaluzian culture is an absolute dream. I'm excited to explore through the eyes of our CIEE participants.
