Overview
Click to OpenTake your talent in French to the next level in the "pink city".
Accelerate your French with four weeks of language immersion in the bustling, beautiful, and student-friendly city of Toulouse in southern France. Your skills will skyrocket as you put them to daily use in and around the Pink City. Eat exquisite pastries, window shop on streets lined with funky or chic boutiques, explore museums, and take it all in.
After morning language classes, you’ll spend an hour per day practicing your skills out in the community – speaking and reading French in markets, cafes, and parks. Later in the afternoon, enjoy group gatherings with your CIEE peers and French host siblings and guided excursions to culturally and historically significant sites with your program leader, a U.S. French teacher.
You’ll see a side of Toulouse that tourists usually miss. CIEE steeps you in the rich culture of this region – its food, art, natural beauty, and thousands of years of French and Roman history and architecture. Living with a local homestay gives you plenty of time to practice French as you prepare and share meals, shop at local markets, and get in tune with the local customs and rhythms of everyday life.

The Destination
Explore the rich culture of the region – its food, art, natural beauty, architecture and more!
A bustling mix of old and new, La Ville Rose (the Pink City) was the kingdom capital in the 5th century. Today it is the center of France’s aerospace and space industries.
Founded in 1229, the University of Toulouse is one of the oldest in Europe. The substantial student population there has spawned interesting music festivals, clubs, and a lively cultural scene.
Take time to taste southern France’s world-class cuisine – sampling specialties at local cafés in different locales during your stay. Toulouse has a number of distinctive dishes that use local produce. Cassoulet, the classic dish of the region, is an irresistible stew of duck, saucisse of Toulouse and herbs. The sausage is also a popular treat on its own.
