My name is Danna Valery Martinez Leyva I’m a student leader at West Seattle High School making a positive impact in our community. I’m an active member of the ASB (Associate Student Board) and the Racial Equity Team, where we work towards fostering inclusivity and equality in our school community. In addition to that, I’m involved in several clubs like the Latinx Club, Black Student Union, Diversity Club, French Club, and DECA. I’m a very active person and participate in track, golf and soccer, I enjoy taking walks at the beach, reading poems, listening to music, traveling , and cooking . My ability to speak multiple languages such as - Spanish, English, French, and Italian – has allowed me to break language barriers and promoting cultural understanding in my community. My passion for learning languages has grown through my desire to connect with people from different backgrounds and embrace diversity, which is why I decided to be apart of CIEE and travel with them an organization that provides opportunities for students to explore the world. Through my experiences in studying abroad summer of 2023 in Rome Italy, I have gained a deeper appreciation for different cultures and have developed a strong desire to make a positive impact globally.
