A week of learning, exploring, and bonding!
As we wrap up our first week in Prague, we had a whole-group reflection and debrief sessions. Students highlighted three observations and ponderings: Many commented on their recognition of LGBTQ visibility and presence in the city. Students considered the ways in which being in Prague challenges their ideas of the Czech Republic's acceptance of the queer community from before. Other students commented that they feel much more acclimated to the city, feeling more comfortable navigating cultural norms, ordering food, taking public transit, using their Czech skills learned in class. Ohter highlights from this week: A Prague walking tour, finishing painting class, sketching on a hill, dancing in the town square, and many more adventures! The students seemed to have developed much more of a sense of community within the group and with the spaces in which they occupy. What a fantastic week--Thank you SO much CIEE Prague HSSA Session I!
