Best Sunset Spots in Lisbon to Enjoy With New Friends
Lisbon’s sun is strong, yet beautiful. The sky is unlike any other I’ve seen, radiating vibrant ombré blues during the day, and soft pinks at sunset. It always feels as if you're staring at a painting. Embrace the colors and find a city spot to slow down and take in the view. Remember to bring a light sweater – the evenings can be chilly!
1. MAAT / Belém Waterfront Steps
One of my personal favorites! This spot offers a picturesque view of the river and the city. It’s the perfect neighborhood to enjoy delicious food, grab some ice cream, and explore museums – all the while enjoying the sun! The breeze from the river helps balance out the warmth from the sun, offering the perfect weather to enjoy while watching the sun set.
2. Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara
This is a spacious and iconic viewpoint in Lisbon, providing scenic views of the beautiful city. Sit on a bench or take a seat at a cafe and watch a sunset while sipping a juice or coffee! The best part is, this viewpoint offers nice green space as well which can be hard to come by in the city!
3. Cais do Sodré Riverside
Very easy to access through the green metro line, this spot is one of my go-tos when I need a break from the dense downtown! After grabbing bubble tea from a nearby shop, I love sitting by the water either for quiet alone time or deep conversations with friends. There is often live music playing nearby as well. Take in the sights, smells, and sounds all the while decompressing from your long summer day!
4. Cascais Train Ride
Use your Nagivante card and take a trip to Cascais! The ride itself is an experience, with coastal views and plenty of beach stops along the way. Try to get a window seat if you can to enjoy the sunset over the coast.
5. Parque das Nações
This riverside spot offers many activities, the first of which being a ride on a cable car! Take a trip and enjoy a breathtaking and one-of-a-kind view over the river! Highly-rated restaurants, the Vasco da Gama mall, cafes, and many small shops fill this area! You can tackle it all and then take a break to relax by the calm river.
Take advantage of Lisbon’s unique sunsets and easygoing pace. Slow down and really take it all in. Whether that entails snapping a photo, taking a book to read by the river, or simply sitting in peace and soaking in the moment and environment around you. Allow yourself the opportunity to pause and enjoy – especially after a day full of activities!
