The Destination
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City, with its colorful depictions of gods, heroes, and stories from its past.
Walking the streets of Rome is like stepping into a mythological tale. According to legend, the bustling capital of Italy was founded by twins, Romulus and Remus, born in the 8th century B.C. to a human mother and the god of war, Mars. For the Ancient Romans, their rich myths weren't mere narratives; they were considered truth!
As you discover the different districts of Rome, you can stroll along the Tiber River, the legendary setting of the city’s founding myth of Romulus and Remus. Across the city, you’ll encounter powerful visual references to ancient stories through monuments, sculptures, and public spaces that bring mythology to life. At every turn, Rome reveals vivid narratives shaped by themes of war, family, heroism, and morality, offering inspiration for your own creative writing and storytelling.
In addition to showing off its past, Rome also offers plenty of modernity—window-shop at legendary fashion houses, savor tasty local flavors at restaurants and gelaterias, and spend time in vast city parks, perfect for nurturing your imagination.

Top Rated Activities
Worldbuilding at Villa di Tiberio, Sperlonga
Along the sparkling coastline south of Rome, you arrive in the seaside town of Sperlonga, where the ruins of Villa di Tiberio overlook the Mediterranean Sea. Here, ancient sculptures depicting dramatic scenes from Homer’s Odyssey—heroes battling monsters, escaping danger, and navigating epic journeys—bring Greek mythology vividly to life. Your guide introduces these powerful mythological narratives and explains how ancient artists used movement, expression, and composition to transform stories into visual drama that continues to inspire writers today.
In small groups, you and your peers explore the site and reflect on how setting shapes storytelling, from the rugged coastline to the heroic struggles carved in marble. Inspired by the sculptures and the surrounding landscape, you begin developing the world of your own myth-based story, imagining the environments, conflicts, and challenges your characters might face. Through discussion and creative brainstorming, you experiment with building atmosphere and narrative tension, turning observation into original storytelling ideas.
This experience offers a fresh perspective on worldbuilding and creative inspiration. Writing in a place where mythology, history, and nature converge helps you see how stories grow from real landscapes and cultural memory. Sharing ideas with fellow Global Navigators in this unique setting strengthens your creative confidence and deepens your connection to both classical myths and your own emerging voice as a writer.
Gnocchi-Making Class
Aprons on and chef hats in place, you dive into the art of gnocchi-making. In the bustling Roman kitchen, flour dust dances in the air as you knead fresh dough, feeling it transform under your hands. You laugh with friends as you get the hang of rolling and shaping gnocchi. The rich aromas of basil, tomatoes, and garlic fill the room, sparking thoughts of all the travel writing that captures Italy’s flavors so vividly you can almost taste them.
Gathered around the table, you savor your creations and discuss how food descriptions can make a story come alive. From novels on Italian cuisine to travel essays that celebrate each dish, words have the power to transport readers, evoking aromas and textures that make mouths water. The experience reminds you how sensory language brings depth to writing—turning a simple meal into an unforgettable memory.
Leaving the kitchen, you feel inspired to explore food writing, perhaps weaving the flavors of Italy into your own stories. This Roman culinary adventure has shown you that words, like food, can nourish and connect.
