Welcoming the London Bunch!
The London students recently arrived on site, excited to start their theater adventure!
We arrived bright and early Sunday morning, and after dropping our bags off at the hostel, we began fighitng off the jet lag with a walking tour around Fitzrovia and over to Regent's Park, where we played a few get-to-know-you games. Then off to pizza for dinner and back to the hostel for an early evening in.
The next morning, the students received an orientation on safety tips in London from a hilarious local constable who also taught us a thing or two about British expressions and culture. After lunch we headed down Drury Lane. We know what you're thinking - was there a Muffin Man who lives on Drury Lane? To be honest, we do not know, we were focused on our knowledgable tour guide who told us anecdotes about the Theatre Royal and some gossip abou the royal families! Despite the rainy weather the students had a great time and spirits were high.
The tour took us through the famous, Covent Garden, filled with lots of small shops and decorated brightly with flowers. Known as a popular spot for street performers, we even heard a brief vocal performance from a man sitting on a stair railing. Then, for the Harry Potter fans, we headed to historic section of the city to see what London looked like from the past. The narrow street was akin to Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. Finally, we decided it was time to head inside and stopped by the National Gallery to learn more about the theatrical people behind the portraits.
Happy and tired we all came back for dinner and headed to the hostel for a good night's sleep.
