A Weekend in Malacca
This past weekend, we went on our overnight trip to Malacca, Malaysia. This area is rich with history and culture and we loved exploring the differences from our home base, Singapore.
We started our trip with an early morning wake up before arriving for a delicious family style lunch. After that, we began a tour around the city where we visited the Christ Church and a viewpoint that overlooked the water, where we were surprised with the chance to hold a bird and a snake! After some time to explore these areas, we took a relaxing break on a river cruise around the city.
On Sunday, we had a very interactive day by participating in a few local art activities. We started at a paper cutting class. As this is the year of the rabbit, we had fun cutting out rabbits. This is a very meticulous and difficult practice, and we are impressed with how detailed these can be!
After that, we headed to Baba and Nyonya heritage museum to explore beautifully preserved houses that showcased the culture. Our final stop was a batik factory where we learned how to use water, paint, and beeswax to paint flower canvases.
We really enjoyed our trip to Malaysia, and are grateful to experience another country during our time in South East Asia!
