Visiting the Harhoura Beach
Every week-day, students participate in an afternoon activity with Moroccan cultural peers. Yesterday, we went to a beach town outside of Rabat. Many Moroccans visit the beaches around Rabat, as they are less crowded than the beach area in the city. Harhoura is about a thirty minute drive from Rabat. When we take the students outside of the city, we travel together in a private bus that provides us with more flexibility than public transport.
The beach is surrounded by beautiful beach houses and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. We spent a few hours playing games and practicing language before giving students some free time to wander around the beach, enjoy the views, and stick their feet in the water.
This weekend, students will be celebrating Eid (the end of Ramadan, or holy month) with their host families. They will taste Moroccan treats and enjoy the company of family members visiting from other cities to celebrate.
